Many of the foods that detoxify the body have anthocyanins in them, which are a type of phytonutrient called a flavonoid. These foods not only help to detoxify the body, but they have heart and brain benefits. They also fight oxidative stress on the body and slow the effects of aging.  The link below has a list of delicious blue foods containing anthocyanins.

Here is a tart beverage I make for my family to cleanse the kidneys and the liver.

Lemon-Limeade Liver Detox

2 peeled lemons

3 peeled limes

Water and ice to fill 2/3 of a blender (Adjust the ice amount to find your desired consistency- smooth vs slushy)

Desired sweetener (local honey for allergies, organic agave nectar etc)

Fruit can be used to sweeten too (frozen strawberries for strawberry limeade) apples and frozen bananas sweeten naturally too

Blend a long time to get pulp smooth

Drink right away- this will go sour if left out

Sweat is a natural way that the body gets rid of toxins. Exercise is a healthy way to detoxify while reaping so many other benefits as well. If you have access to a sauna, that is other easy way to sweat toxins out of the body.

New study out showing just how many toxins babies are exposed to even through the umbilical cord! I wish I had know this information when I was pregnant. I tried to eat healthy, but just didn’t know as much as I do today.
